BLOCKING SITES

How can I block sex sites and why is a sex site blocked only after a first visit?

zoomzaa and parents that use zoomzaa tries to classify web sites in six categories; Sexuality, Games, Hate, Personal, Gambling or Religion.

You can set up a rule to allow zoomzaa to block web sites that are classified as Sex. The blocking only takes effect after the site is visited at least one time. We believe that parents should always be aware of what type of sites their children are trying to visit.

Like everything in zoomzaa, it's the parent who has complete control on when and what zoomzaa monitors.

There are hundreds of millions of web sites and thousands coming on-line every day. It is impossible to pre-filter all of them in real-time. Here at zoomzaa we and our concerted subscriber parents try our best to classify them; at the end of the day, it is still up to individual parents to check which sites their children are visiting.  Then through zoomzaa may be set up to block any inappropriate site so they can’t visit them again.

Also please note that when you select an action for a web site such as block, depending on the Internet traffic and the availability of your Internet connection it can take several minutes for zoomzaa to update your computer.

Please make sure you only select one action at a time: Block or Site OK or Take Picture.

My Computer time blocking is not working.

When you select an action within zoomzaa for a web site such as Block, depending on the Internet traffic and the availability of your Internet connection it can take several minutes for zoomzaa to update your computer.

The time blocking only blocks access to web sites - everything else remains the same.

Also make sure the date and time of the computer are correct and please note that zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher.  Further, zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or a PPP network interface.

The blocking feature does not work with other Browsers such as FireFox.

zoomzaa limits the take picture feature for a specific site to 5 days after which it is automatically turned off for that site. The total size of all pictures taken at a given time is limited at 50MB. Users forget to inform zoomzaa to stop to take pictures so it overwhelms our servers and network. It is up to the users to administer their account.

Also be sure that your children are not using other Browsers like FireFox. zoomzaa only works with Explorer 5 and up.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

How do I view a web site tracked by zoomzaa.

INFORMATION REGARDING ZOOMZAA MONITORING

How do I temporarily stop zoomzaa monitoring a computer?

Currently all parental control rules apply to all accounts of a computer.  You can at any time stop the monitoring/blocking of a computer by logging in to zoomzaa then click on Account Administration (top right). Choose the option Computers at your house and un-check the check box Monitor On. Remember to activate the monitoring again before your children use the computer.

Please note that it can take several minutes for zoomzaa to update your rules in your computer. It depends on the Internet speed and the availability of your computer. Also make sure the date and time in the computer are correct.

I think the monitoring is incomplete.

Can you verify if there is any other Browser besides Explorer on your computer such as FireFox?

Note that zoomzaa only works well with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher.

Permanently stop monitoring on computer

You can stop the monitoring of a computer by un-installing zoomzaa.  We are adding the ability for a user to delete a computer from his file.  This will be available in a future release.

Some web site are displayed several times in the email.

When a web site is visited,  zoomzaa will capture the domain and report it. It will not capture that domain again until a new domain is visited. Some web sites redirect to a different domain and then return to the original one. This can be for advertising or some sort of tracking. If this happens often in your computer we suggest running anti-spyware software. You computer may in some way be infected.

Are all web sites visited tracked?

When a web site is visited,  zoomzaa will monitor, capture the domain (URL) and report it back to you. This happens even if it was redirected from a search engine such as Google or to a ghost site that is visited for a very short time. This is used by marketing companies to track the Internet usage of your computer.

If you click on a site link on the activity report, the site should open. If it does not then it’s because the link is dead. This happens mostly on links that do not start with WWW.  Companies do this to make it difficult for any authority to track them back to its origin.

Not all web sites are being tracked.

Check to see if there has been activity for your computer on all days. Some activity can arrive late; this is because it can take several minutes for zoomzaa and your computer to communicate depending on the Internet traffic and the availability of your computer. Another issue is that we are located in Canada and base everything on Eastern Standard Time, (EST) and with the difference in time zones there can also be some discrepancies. Sorry for the inconvenience; we are trying to address this issue since zoomzaa is available to all parents worldwide. Also always check the date and time on your zoomzaa registered computers.

Some tracked can information can be lost.

Unfortunately zoomzaa has to be setup to be a very low priority process in the PC. This is so it is unobtrusive and does not slow down other processes. The communication between your PC and our zoomzaa servers can sometimes be lost. It can re-start automatically or only when the computer is re-booted. What we try to accomplish is to give parents a good idea of what their children are doing on the Internet and hopefully to help parents address a potential bad trend before it’s too late.

We are always trying to improve zoomzaa's performance without interfering with the daily use of the computer.

Please continue to monitor the green H icon on your computer's taskbar.  If there is a red X on it then zoomzaa is not running correctly. Right click on the H go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. The zoomzaa administration program will advise what is happening. You can also go to Start button; then All Programs; then zoomzaa; then run zoomzaa Administration. The zoomzaa Administration program will advise what is happening.

Please confirm that there have been no changes in your Internet provider, connection type or in your computer setup.

Also verify that a family member did not install the browser FireFox and stopped using Internet Explorer. zoomzaa only works best with Explorer 5 and up.

How view the information zoomzaa has monitored?

After registering and installing zoomzaa you should start receiving a daily email with the web sites visited and MSN chat from all computers that zoomzaa was installed. You can also log-in to zoomzaa and view the same activity in real time. Visit www.hoopaa.com and enter your user ID and password.

To learn how zoomzaa works visit our tutorial at http://www.hoopaa.com/zoomzaa-tutorial_files/frame.htm

Make sure that emails from zoomzaa are not being blocked by an email filter.

Site information is being displayed in another language.

The Title and Description of a web site is automatically extracted from the site. We display it in the site's original language and format.

Can I apply different rules for each user?

Currently all parental control rules apply to all accounts of a computer. We are working on a future release to make rules applied only to selected users.

In the mean time you can stop temporarily stop the  monitoring of a computer by logging in to zoomzaa then click on Account Administration (top right). Choose the option Computers at your house and un-check the check box Monitor On.  Please note that it can take several minutes or more for zoomzaa to update your rules in your computer. It depends on the Internet speed and the availability of your computer. Remember to start the monitoring again before your children use the computer.

Also make sure the date and time of the computer are correct and please note that zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.

zoomzaa does not work with other Browsers such as FireFox. Make sure your children are not using it.

Windows user not being monitored.

zoomzaa tracks all Windows users automatically that uses Windows Explorer to browse the Internet. Make sure your children did not install other browser such as FireFox.

You can also check and see if zoomzaa is running properly by re-starting your computer. To verify if zoomzaa is running check if there is a green "h" icon on the toolbar, if it has a red "x" click with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to Start button then All Program then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration. zoomzaa administration program will advise what is happening.

You can try to re-start your computer and see if zoomzaa starts correctly.

If it does not start just download and install it again using this link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe. You do not need to register again.

WEB SITE CLASSIFICATION

A web site has the wrong Classification

zoomzaa and parents that uses zoomzaa tries to classify web sites in six categories; Sexuality, Games, Hate, Personal, Gambling or Religion.

Sometimes the classification can be made incorrectly. That is why we give the parents the means to block and un-block any site. There are two ways of doing this. First, from the daily activity email that zoomzaa sends you. Just click on the link block next to the web site. The second option is login to zoomzaa via www.hoopaa.com , find the web site you want to block and click on the block check-box then click on the button Submit Web Site Status.

How does the web site classification work?

zoomzaa and parents that use zoomzaa tries to classify web sites in six categories; Sexuality, Games, Hate, Personal, Gambling or Religion. The personal category reflects web sites in which personal information can be exchanged, such as blogs, personal web sites, chatting, or forums, etc. zoomzaa does not track or monitor secure sites such as banking and credit cards. I think what you mean by "view web site" is the ability of zoomzaa to take pictures (screen shots or, snap shots) of every page of a site that a child visits. Like everything in zoomzaa, it's the parent who has complete control on when and what zoomzaa monitors.

Why is a site classified wrongly?

zoomzaa and parents that uses zoomzaa tries to classify web sites in six categories; Sexuality, Games, Hate, Personal, Gambling or Religion. Sometimes sites are automatically rated by their content or from where the link originated. A site that is often called or has many links to a sex site can also be rated as SEX. Please send us the URL (web address) of any other site(s) that you believe is wrongly classified and we will check into it.

MSN TRACKING INFORMATION

How do I remove an MSN account being monitored?

When you login to zoomzaa click on Account Administration (top right). Then on then choose the MSN Accounts option. Find the MSN account you want to stop the tracking and check the remove box next to it. Then click on Save Changes button.

It can take several minutes for your computer to be updated with the new rule.

How do I add a MSN account to be monitored?

zoomzaa will automatically start tracking any MSN account that uses your computer which has zoomzaa installed. You do not need to add the account to zoomzaa.

MSN is not being tracked - only web sites.

Did it stop monitoring in all your computers or just one?  Did you install or update a Firewall or Anti-Virus?  For now can you check and see if zoomzaa is running ok by re-starting your computer. To verify if zoomzaa is running check if there is a green "h" icon on the toolbar, if it has a red "x" click with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to the Start button then All Programs then zoomzaa then run  Administration.  zoomzaa administration program will inform what is happening.

You can try to re-start your computer and see if zoomzaa starts ok.

If it does not start just download and install it again using this link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe. You do not need to register again.

Check if your children's Windows account has administration rights. If so, you can create a normal window user account for your children, that way they can’t uninstall or stop zoomzaa from running. The following link can help. http://www.hoopaa.com/hpwinuser.htm

Also make sure the date and time of the computer are correct. Please note that zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.

If zoomzaa is ok chat with a friend on MSN and visit some web sites and after a few minutes see if the conversation was tracked.

How do I deal with inappropriate MSN chat?

zoomzaa does not block MSN it just monitors and informs you, the parent.  What we recommend is that you print the page with the chat and contact the authorities. You can also send an email to the other party asking them to stop and advising them that the authorities have been alerted.

Some MSN chat is incomplete.

MSN users can include images such as a happy face (an emoticon) or send a wink. zoomzaa cannot convert this to text so it ignores it and can cause some data to be lost or garbled. We are a;so aware that a MSN user can install an encryption protocol and zoomzaa can’t read the message.  You can go to Google and search for MSN encryption to learn more about this.

We try our best to display the chat in a way that parents can understand what is being talked about and possibly provide a trend of where the conversation is leading.  Also children normally chat online using a common code of acronyms and abbreviations. Visit this web site http://chat.reichards.net/ it can help you understand their online "language" better.

Does zoomzaa track other chat besides tracks MSN?

Sorry, zoomzaa presently only tracks MSN chat; it is the most frequently  used by children and teenagers.

There are hundreds if not thousands of chat applications available and new ones coming on-line every day. It is impossible to program zoomzaa to monitor them all since each uses a different and sometimes proprietary communication protocol.  We are looking into tracking other mainstream chats in a future release.

You can try to use take picture (screen shoot feature of zoomzaa) of a web site to monitor a personal web-site like MySpace.

Login to zoomzaa via www.hoopaa.com , find the web site you want to have picture taken and click on the picture check-box.  Check your daily activity email or login to zoomzaa and look for small image of a camera next to the web site. If there are any pictures available the camera will show up.  Click on the camera image, the pictures of the web site will be displayed.

When you select an action for a web site such as take picture, depending on the Internet traffic and the availability of your Internet connection it can take several minutes for zoomzaa to update your computer.

Also be sure to only select one action at a time: Block or Site OK or Take Picture.

zoomzaa MSN tracking outside your house.

zoomzaa will provide you with monitoring information if someone with a MSN account that is linked to your zoomzaa accounts chats from a computer outside your house. Maybe from a friend’s house that also uses zoomzaa. Also if a friend comes to your house and used MSN chat you will also view that chat.  Any computer, no matter where it is in the world, if it has zoomzaa running, you will know if any of your registered users/family members are online and what they are doing and with whom.   To learn how zoomzaa works visit our tutorial at http://www.hoopaa.com/zoomzaa-tutorial_files/frame.htm

Some sites like e-Bay and MSN are being blocked

Some sites such as e-Bay, MSN and MapQuest use third party sites for advertisement or web traffic tracking. If one of those sites is blocked in zoomzaa it can interrupt the process before it actually opens the desired site. A recent example of this on MSN would be Lavalife.  Blocking that site can also block MSN.  The only solution is to say that these third party sites are OK. There are several of them and they can change at any time. First try to find any site that was blocked and that you might not know what it is and say it's ok. Then try to go to e-Bay. Repeat this process until you find the one that is causing the problem. To do this login to zoomzaa click on Account Administration (top right). Then on then choose the Websites visited option.  Un-check the Block the check the Site OK then click on save.

It can take several minutes for your computer to be updated with the new rule.

ZOOMZAA IS NOT RUNNING CORRECTLY

My zoomzaa is not running at all.

Can you check and see if zoomzaa is running ok by re-starting your computer.? To verify if zoomzaa is running check if there is a green "h" icon on the toolbar, if it has a red "x" click with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to Start button then All Programs then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration.  zoomzaa administration program will advise what is happening.

You can try to re-start your computer and see if zoomzaa starts properly.

If it does not start just download and install it again using this link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe. You do not need to register again.

Check if your children Windows account has administration rights. If so, you can create a normal window user account for your children, that way they can’t uninstall or stop zoomzaa from running. The following link can help. http://www.hoopaa.com/hpwinuser.htm

Also make sure the date and time of the computer are correct.

Please note that zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.

zoomzaa does not work with other Browsers such as FireFox.

If zoomzaa is ok chat with a friend on MSN and visit some web sites and after a few minutes see if the conversation was tracked.

Why is my zoomzaa not running consistently?

Your computer continuously tries to contact our zoomzaa servers to transmit its web activity. Sometimes the connection can be lost or become slow. It will eventually catch up and no information should be lost. If the tracking stops for a long time then you should verify if zoomzaa is running by checking if there is a green “h" icon on the toolbar. If it has a red "x" then re-start your computer. If there is still a red "x” on top of the green H then click with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to Start button then All Programs then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration.  zoomzaa administration program will inform what is happening. Check and see if your children Window's account is an administrator. If so you can create a normal window user account for your children, that way they cannot stop uninstall or stop zoomzaa from running. The following link can help http://www.hoopaa.com/hpwinuser.htmif your zoomzaa has been removed you can re-install by visiting the link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe and following the instructions.

Also make sure the date and time of the computer are correct.

Please note that zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.

My zoomzaa is not running after I registered.

After registering, you must install zoomzaa in all computers you wish to be monitored.  If you have not installed zoomzaa you can do so by visiting the link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe and following the instructions.

After installing zoomzaa will start automatically when you restart the computer. A green H should appear in your tool bar (bottom right). If there is a red X on it then zoomzaa is not running correctly. Right click on the H go to zoomzaa administration and follow the instructions. zoomzaa administration program will inform what is happening. You can also go to Start button then All Program then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration. zoomzaa administration program will advise what is happening.

zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.  If zoomzaa is working correctly, your computer will be automatically registered after you start visiting web sites. You will also receive a daily email with the Internet activities from all computers that zoomzaa was installed. You can also log-in to zoomzaa and view your activity in real time.

I have a  red X in the H on my tool bar.

When there is a red "x" on to of the green h you can click the h with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to Start button then All Program then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration. zoomzaa administration program will inform what is happening.

You can try to re-start your computer and see if zoomzaa starts ok.

If it does not start just download and install it again using this link http://www.hoopaa.com/files/hoopaa.exe. You do not need to register again.

What ports and IP does zoomzaa uses for monitoring?

Verify that the UDP ports 8118 and 8122 are open in your computer. These ports are used by zoomzaa to transmit your activity. The IP varies automatically depending on the volume of traffic.  Note that zoomzaa only works well with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher.

zoomzaa stopped working after I changed or upgraded my computer.

Did you change your Internet service provider (ISP) or upgraded your computer?

Since zoomzaa needs Microsoft framework to run correctly you will need Windows XP SP 2 with .NET 2.0 and Explorer 5 or higher. Please make sure all your computers have this configuration.

If any feature of zoomzaa stops working you can check and see if zoomzaa is running ok by re-starting your computer(s) and verifying if there is a green "h" icon on the toolbar, if it has a red "x" click with the right mouse button on the icon and go to zoomzaa Administration and follow the instructions. You can also go to the Start button then All Programs then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration.

zoomzaa Administration program will inform what is happening.

zoomzaa just stopped working after I installed an anti-virus application.

Sometimes these security programs are updated automatically and start blocking applications that you are normally running. In theory you should be prompted for this but this almost never happens.  Verify with your security software that the UDP ports 8118 and 8122 are open in your computer. These ports are used by zoomzaa to transmit your activity.

Also you have to advise the security software you are using that it’s OK to have zoomzaa running in your computer.  The name of the program that zoomzaa uses for communication is zoomzaasend.exe, this program should be allowed to pass your firewall.

zoomzaa does not work correctly with the FireFox browser.

Sorry, zoomzaa blocking only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher because it needs Microsoft framework.

zoomzaa with Windows  2000.

I get a message regarding my Network card.

Sorry, zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface only with a high speed connection.

If you have high speed and there is still a problem with the network card this is because older network cards are incompatible with some of Window's XP features that zoomzaa uses. You can substitute the card with any standard new network card. Most retailers that carry computer supplies will have an inexpensive card.

My computer shows twice in the report..

Did a network setting in your computer change, maybe the network card or Internet provider?  If your computer has 2 network cards, for example one cable the other wireless this will show in zoomzaa like two computers since zoomzaa actually monitors is the network card. If there is no activity in one of the cards for some time, it may be safe to delete it.

I have 2 Network Cards in my computer..

If your computers has two network cards installed, zoomzaa does not know which one to "listen" to.  To solve this open a DOS prompt by clicking on START, All Programs, Accessories then "Command Prompt". A black window will open. Type: ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew

Restart zoomzaa. Check if a green H appeared in your tool bar (bottom right). If there is a red X on it then zoomzaa is not running correctly. Right click on the H go to zoomzaa administration and follow the instructions. zoomzaa Administration program will advise what is happening. You can also go to Start button then All Programs then zoomzaa then run zoomzaa Administration. zoomzaa Administration program will advise what is happening.

zoomzaa only works with Windows XP and Explorer 5 or higher and zoomzaa does not work with a Dial-up connection or PPP network interface.
